Choices Atlanta: Women Balancing Life History

Reflecting on my life’s challenges and difficulties it was time to give back and to help women who may be struggling with their life choices.  I know that women today are feeling extreme pressure to have it all: a successful career, a stimulating marriage, well-adapted children, rewarding friendships, and more. But what were they basing their decisions on? The seed was planted that I should start the steps in forming a non-profit organization that could help women listen to their hearts and determine what is really important to them, find balance in their daily lives, and make decisions that would bring them peace and personal fulfillment.

I invited a group of women to my home after each of us giving a personal testimony of our lives and asked the question. How could we start an organization that would make a difference in our culture? Because we have witnessed an unbalanced life among friends, families and ourselves, our group talked about the values of women and how the family needs a strong foundation for a healthy society. We recognize that women have many challenges in today’s world of materialism especially the “needs versus wants”. We want to promote womanhood in all its dimensions, so we decided to do something about it; we started Choices Atlanta: Women Balancing Life.

Why Choices Atlanta?

Choices Atlanta was created to educate women on their true dignity and identity as a woman. Our mission is to promote the value of being a woman, for women to pause and reflect about the direction they are taking. We present women with the opportunity to integrate and better fulfill their family, personal, and professional aspirations and responsibilities, thus achieving true fulfillment. We are a voice for an integral understanding of womanhood in all its dimensions. Also, we feel that women are the first transmitters of values to their children.  For us to understand they are who they are because of their family history and the choices they have made in their daily lives. Choices Atlanta goal is to educate women and give emotional support; to encourage each other to reach out to Choices Atlanta for ideas and advice. The foundation for our organization is presented in the Guiding Principles to be followed by each of the core team members.

We all know there are things that make life important faith, family, friends, education, work and health. Women need reflection, direction and connection, there are so many mixed messages about who we’re supposed to be and we all go at such a fast pace that we don’t take the time to really think about where we want our lives to go, and taking steps to get there. Choices Atlanta wants women to know they do have a choice. Through a series of luncheons and workshops we will promote the Seven Priorities of Balance.

Corporate – Community - Charity

Corporate:  Contact different Corporations in Atlanta. Choices Atlanta will provide well-executed activities, discussions and programs that will educate women discover solutions to the vast array of issues women face, help them identify what’s really important in their lives. Our goal is to educate the women to value themselves and for women to support women.

Community: Community groups will consist of hospitals, churches, non-profit organizations, and stay at home moms. To provide coffees and workshops for moms of young children and give them the understanding how they are valued; if they stay home/work around their kids/not have it all at the same time/not to think they have to be perfect. To promote how they can achieve balance in their lives according to their ideals, and live their priorities by making good decisions and choices.

Charity:  Through workshops we plan to meet the educational needs of different charity groups of women. These may be women who have hit a brick wall in their lives who are in need of options. We want to be the understanding voice for options, decisions, and choices. Choices Atlanta will reach their hearts not just their heads; from “doing” and “having” to “being and giving.”
